Greetings everyone. I realized I had not posted in quite some time, (like I've never done that before!) I've been spending a lot of time in the studio getting ready for several shows that are coming up over the next few months.
The February Show at the Artists Gallery is titled "The Art of Seduction". I will be offering all new works in this show, and somehow, landscapes just don't fit the theme for me, so I'm focusing on figure and still life work. The second show is the "Art of the Flower" at the Philadelphia Sketch Club. This juried exhibition coincides with the famous Philadelphia Flower Show. And finally, I will be having my first 2 person show at the Artists Gallery in April.
Charles Katzenback and I will be the featured artists for the April show at the Artists Gallery. Charles and I work in completely different styles and in fact, on completely different supports - he paints on glass! His work is dynamic, as you move around the painting, each view gives a different perspective on the work. I have always been intrigued by the effects of atmosphere and light. So we have decided to have a theme based on the topic of transparency and shifting light. We've not yet finalized a name for the show, but it should be very interesting.
The painting above is a scene from Maine. It's the view from my in-laws balcony early in the morning. Unfortunately, the strength and intense colour of the light on the horizon does not show well in this photograph (note to self: take some photography lessons!).
